Regional BioCamp 2013 – Young scientists get a firsthand glimpse of the world of pharmacy (video)
Ljublijana, May 2013
The third annual Regional BioCamp, hosted by Lek, a Sandoz company, brought 35 top science students from the Alpe-Adria region together for three days of learning and challenge.
In alignment with Sandoz’s mission to increase patient access to high-quality medicines, the theme of the BioCamp was Contemporary Technologies for Affordable Therapies. Lectures, discussions and case studies centered on this theme.
“These promising young experts showed great interest in viewing Sandoz Slovenia’s development centers and getting a real-life picture of how high-level technological innovation and expertise function here,” said Dr Darja Ferčej Temeljotov, president of Organizing Committee of Regional BioCamp.
“One of our goals is to combine the science experience with a business experience, which is often something these young students have never done before. Participants had to show both types of knowledge to perform well in the case study challenge.”
The winners of the Regional BioCamp 2013 contest are Patricia Wildberger and Gasper Pustovrh. These two students will participate in the Novartis global BioCamp in August in Basel where they will learn about trends in biotechnology and biopharmacy.
